Philanthropy & Service

Giving back to the community is one of the most important things we can do as young adults. With Theta, it becomes that much easier to help out: we hold annual philanthropic events, like our famous Theta Dodgeball Tournament and our cupcake baking philanthropy. We also participate in annual philanthropic events hosted by other organizations in Arizona State Greek Life, all while completing individual service hours.

THETA

dodgeball

For over 25 years, Kappa Alpha Theta has partnered with CASA nationwide. A CASA is a court appointed special advocate—a kind volunteer who represents a foster child in court. CASA also helps provide companionship to children who often feel alone.

Through a dodgeball tournament and various other activities (cake pops for CASA, percentage nights, school supply drives, etc.), Arizona State Theta raises money specifically for Phoenix CASA. This money is used to help cover CASA training, as well as fund enrichment programs for the children, including baseball tickets, movie tickets, and more. This year we had a total of 30 teams participate in our tournament where we raised over $23,500 for CASA.

Our goal is to help support the amazing volunteers who provide safety and security to children and to help put a smile on a child's face!

the

In 1960, the Theta foundation was created with a goal of providing resources for educational and philanthropic programs of Kappa Alpha Theta. The foundation provides scholarships and grants to active Theta members, as well as alumni, in order to help them reach their professional, scholastic, and service goals.

This past year, Delta Epsilon raised $2000+ for the Theta Foundation with a cupcake fundraiser. Our girls split into teams and baked &decorated cupcakes, and then sold them at a fun event to other members of Arizona State Greek Life and the public!

COMMUNITY

service

In addition to hosting an participating in our own philanthropic events, as well as participating in the philanthropic events hosted by other Fraternal organizations at Arizona State, Thetas complete service hours each semester.

We completed over 13,000 hours of service over the 2018-2019 academic school year, providing a helping hand to organizations such as Feed My Starving Children, Voices for CASA, Valley of the Sun United Way, and more. Our girls have participated in the annual Voices for CASA Superhero Run and the annual Arizona Cardinals Back to School Backpack Drive for CASA as well to continue our involvement with our philanthropy.

One of our core values as members of Kappa Alpha Theta is service, and we will continue to uphold and better our focus on service and philanthropy each and every year.
